Client Testimonials
As Troiaresort takes shape, so the number of happy owners is rapidly growing. Here, we talk to just two very different but equally delighted purchasers.
John Shepherd knows Portugal well, having lived in Cascais for almost eight years. John, his wife and four young children were frequent visitors to Tróia and loved seeing the dolphins in the bay. Already a fan of the area, he followed the project with interest since he heard that it was to be developed and was one of the first buyers when villa plots were made available.
His beach villa plot backs onto a small lake and he plans to build a three-bedroom villa with study, garden and pool. He plans to rent out the property in Cascais and use the new house at Troiaresort for holidays and fun. Once the villa is complete, he plans to buy a boat which he can moor in the resort’s marina. Scuba diving, dolphin watching and crossing the water to Setúbal where he has already found some lovely restaurants are just some of the treats in store when the family has their own boat so close to their Troiaresort home.
John’s dream home should be complete by the end of 2009, and ready for the first fun holidays at Easter 2010. He bought the plot for € 850,000 in June 2007 and plans to spend around € 650,000 on construction. “For € 1.5 million we should have a gorgeous property,” he says. He knows the local property market in Portugal well and had no hesitation in investing in Troiaresort. “Prices have steadily increased and I am confident that this will continue,” he comments.
There are so many plus points on his list it is hard to include them all. The climate, the beaches, the wineries and, as he says, “You’re never bored in Portugal – there are loads of things to do.” Ease of access from both Lisbon and Faro airports is also an important factor, with flights from his local airport at Manchester.
He sums it up beautifully when he says, “Portugal is beautiful but Tróia is the jewel in the crown.”
Neil Cottle had been coming to Portugal for many years but his apartment at Troiaresort is his first property investment in the country.
Neil lives in south London but loves water sports and this was a major attraction. No wonder: apart from the marina, Troiaresort offers a huge choice of water-based activities – as Neil says, “the beaches are perfect to launch sailing boats from and the wind is great for kit-surfing!” The diversity in the region was another big plus point: everything from beach bars to a superb golf course and only 45 minutes from Lisbon!
Neil bought a one-bedroom, 117 m² corner beach apartment. “(it has) two balconies that both overlook the beach, so it means my apartment will not be looked into at all.“ He plans to use it throughout the year for short breaks – with Lisbon airport less than an hour away, he can do the journey with hand luggage very quickly and easily. And when he is not using it, he says his family and friends would love to use it too: “Someone always seems to be heading to Portugal so I know the apartment will never be empty for long!”
